Get desktopok9/19/2023 But I got some kind of problem, your soft is kinda popular in my organization (about 100 PC).It should therefore be loaded on the laptop, the laptop profile, and on the desktop from the desktop. As a suggestion, I would like to make the automatic alignment of the icons at startup dependent on the PC name. I put the DesktopOK folder along with other "portable apps" in my cloud folder, so I do not have to download the tools on multiple machines. I've been using your DesktopOK tool for quite some time, it's really helpful if you change the screen more often or just access the desktop remotely and all the icons are scattered. Then he could be involved in the backup.? Many Thanks!? But it would be desirable to be able to set the path for storing the DesktopOK.ini. We have the problem that our users do not have administrator rights and therefore no write permissions in the Windows folder.? Is not it possible to save the DesktopOK.ini in a user-related area? eg in the user profile (variable% userprofile%) Thus every user could save his own icon layout. It would be nice, if it is stored in the same folder as the program itself in a file, then it could also use the backup, if I make my PC new (install).?.Info The current DesktopOK settings are stored in: E:\Utils\Desktop\DesktopOK\DesktopOK.ini For portable use please create in DesktopOK working directory the DesktopOK.ini I would suggest you to change that last sentence (and in the readme file) to something like this: "To run DesktopOK as a portable program you should create an empty DesktopOK.ini in the same directory as DesktopOK.exe." So it will be more clear what you mean.? I then saw the same message in the program and both are really hard to understand and very confusing. It was not clear to me how I should do if it was my first time use of DesktopOK. Sorry, but I totally misunderstood the message in the readme file.Needless to say, DesktopOK is the solution I'm using. Was mostly good, but two icons wound up on top of each other and one icon was left back on the desktop monitor.ĭesktopOK version 5.01 from : Did the same change-the-primary-display test as described above. Saved the icon layout, changed my primary display to be the desktop monitor (which moves all the icons from the laptop to the external desktop monitor but totally destroys the layout), then did an icon restore. Fail.ĭesktop Restore version 1.7.0 from Midi-Ox: Worked, but not perfectly. Clicked refresh, moved an icon as a test, killed Explorer, when Explorer came back, the icon was not restored. The right-click Desktop and click Refresh option: Didn't work at all for me. I have a dual monitor setup, both at 1920 x 1080, the laptop screen scaled at 150%, the desktop screen scaled at 100% (Windows recommended settings). Here is what worked and didn't work for me as of using Windows 10 version 1709, Home edition, fully updated. It seems that different versions of Windows 10 and various updates to software solutions suggested here work at various times - and not at others. There seems to be some difference of opinion on what "works" and what doesn't. Then select "Administrators" in the Permissions window you first opened and tick "Full Control" then hit "OK".ĭo that to the InProcServer32 folder in both HKEY paths.ĭouble click on (Default) and replace %SystemRoot%\SysWow64\shell32.dll with %SystemRoot%\system32\windows.storage.dll in both file destinations, then restart your PC and everything should work fine!! Select the "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects" and also "Replace all child object permission entries.", then click OK. Again choose "Advanced.", click "Find Now" and select "Administrators". Start by right-clicking on the last sub-key (which in this case is InProcServer32) and click on "Permissions.", then click on "Advanced.", then click on "Change" for the "Owner". HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Wow6432Node\CLSID\\InProcServer32\ If the Cleaner module doesn't fix the system after a reboot and a startup scan (as it happens on some systems), these are the steps (taken from here) to manually get it fixed: Once the AV removes a trojan/virus, the icon and folder (registry) settings become corrupted and there is no going back.įortunately, ESET has succeded reproducing the issue and provided a fix today (through pre-release update servers): Update: An issue affecting Windows 10 was connected to ESET Antivirus (and their similar products).
